Research

Researchers at the Kaskaskia, Ridge Lake, and Sam Parr Biological Stations study freshwater fish and their habitats. Their work covers many subjects, including how fish grow, where they live, what they eat, and how they interact with other species, including invasive ones. Each station provides a different setting for exploring questions in fish behavior, community dynamics, and aquatic resource management.

Our work draws on both field studies and controlled experiments to answer applied questions in fish population management, reservoir and stream ecology, and species interactions. Explore the sections below to learn more about current aquatic ecology, fisheries management, and invasion biology research.
